Verification of vehicle acceleration behaviors using microscopic traffic simulation model

This study proposes a method for verifying vehicle acceleration behaviors using a microscopic traffic simulation model to evaluate traffic CO2 emissions. Although methods for verifying microscopic vehicle motion data such as vehicle positions and speeds have been proposed, no well-defined method for verifying acceleration behaviors has been proposed. In our study, probe vehicle data (from Tokyo's Komazawa-dori) and simulation outputs were classified into four driving modes on the basis of vehicle behavior, and investigations were conducted for each mode. Our findings demonstrate that the differences in the acceleration behavior between probe vehicle data and simulation outputs influence the CO2 emission quantities.
