Three-dimensional photocontrol of liquid crystal alignment by azobenzene-containing self-assembled monolayers

抄録

A simple procedure was developed to fabricate monolayers of low-molecular azobenzene derivative on an amorphous polymer film for the photocontrol of liquid crystal alignment. Three-dimensional photoalignment control of LCs was realizable by slantwise irradiation with non-polarized UV light. The photoalignment of LCs was described by using 4AzA-pAA films with different surface densities of 4AzA.
