The trend of research development for feedstock recycling of plastics

研究成果: Review article査読

Recycling of waste plastic is made to divide roughly into material recycling, and feedstock (chemical) recycling and material recycle. Especially in this description, a reference is made about the trend of research development in feedstock recycling, such as conversion into monomer, oil (hydrocarbon), and the dechlorination treatment. About conversion into monomer, the solvolysis and pyrolysis of PET and PC are explained. Methanolysis and glycolysis are general techniques in the conversion into monomer of PET, and many techniques such as the hydrolysis are examined. There are many studies for solvolysis of PC, since it is difficult to conversion into monomer by thermal decomposition. However, the research which selective decomposition is possible by using slaked lime is reported in recent years. Practical use process is explained about oil recovery from plastics in municipal waste, and it is referring for the research which discussed the influence of mixing the brominated flame retardants in ABS, PVC, and PET on products oil component. On the other hand, PET is convertible into benzene with high yield by using pyrolysis using slaked lime. Moreover, the matter which must be thermodynamically taken into consideration in a dry processing was shown about the dechlorination treatment of PVC. New wet processing is introduced about dechlorination technology which is using alkaline solutions and NaOH/EG.
