The RFIGISOL at Tohoku ISOL

The new technique, named RFIGISOL, has been designed to enhance the stopping capability in the gas cell and to increase the mass-separated yield. The RFIGISOL consisting of a large volume gas cell for stopping and DC and RF electric fields for lossless guiding has been built for the off-line and on-line experiments. The experiments clearly demonstrate that the DC and RF electric fields in the large volume gas cell have functioned well. As on-line experiments, neutron rich nuclei produced by proton induced fission reaction have been mass-separated by the RFIGISOL. We have obtained the mass-separated 112Rh1+ of ∼4000 ions/s at 1 μA proton beam.
