A series of single crystals of quasi-one-dimensional Ni-Pd mixed-metal MX-chain compounds, Ni1-xPdx(chxn)2Cl3, and mixed-halogen MX-chain compounds, Ni(chxn)2ClyBr1-y (NO3)2 have been obtained by electrochemical oxidation methods. In order to investigate the competition between the electron-correlation in the NiIII states and the electron-phonon interaction in the PdII-PdIV states in the Ni-Pd mixed-metal compounds, the IR, Raman spectra have been measured. These results show that the PdII-PdIV mixed-valence states are influenced by NiIII and gradually approaching to the PdIII states with the increase of the NiIII components. In order to investigate the effect of bridging halogen, the optical conductivity spectra of Ni(chxn)2ClyBr1-y (NO3)2 have been measured.
