The effect of GeO2 addition on the superplasticity flow and tensile ductility in TZP was examined. ZrO2-2.5mol%Y2O3-1.0mol% GeO2 (TZP-lGe) exliibits lower flow stress and larger tensile elongation than ZrO2-2.5mol%Y2O3 (2.5Y-TZP) in a temperature range of 1200 and 155CTC. This reduction in flow stress is mainly caused by a reduction in activation energy ibr plastic flow. Cation's difiusivity must be enhanced by the presence of GeO2 in TZP. The enhanced ductility in TZP-lGe can be explained by the reduction in flow stress.
