Static antiferromagnetic correlations under magnetic fields in electron-doped high-Tc cuprate superconductor Pr 0.89LaCe0.11CuO4

Neutron scattering experiments have been performed to study the magnetic-field dependence of static antiferromagnetic correlations in electron-doped cuprate superconductor Pr0.89LaCe 0.11CuO4. In the zero field this compound shows superconductivity at around 25 K, and exhibits a fairly weak magnetic order. Magnetic fields up to 5 T, however, considerably enhance the antiferromagnetic (AF) ordering with commensurate wave number. Above 5T, this AF order degrades with increasing the field. The characteristics of this electron-doped compound are discussed compared with previous reports on the related systems. The enhancement of the AF order under magnetic fields is a common feature of cuprate high-Tc superconductors.
