An iron-based three-component catalyst composed of Fe-Mn-Ru exhibited high selectivities to light alkenes with significantly higher activities in syngas conversion. The selectivity for the composite catalyst was very stable against an increase of reaction temperature, compared with that for a single-component supported ruthenium catalyst. A protonated Fe-or Ga-silicate catalyst was used in series with the Fe-Mn-Ru catalyst. The reaction conditions were varied, while maintaining the reaction conditions in the first reactor. Light alkenes and C5+ aliphatics formed in the first reactor were converted through the second reactor. Particularly, isomerization of 1-alkenes occurred on H-Ga-silicate. However, the concentration of light alkenes and C5+ aliphatics was still not enough in the reaction gas for H-Fe-or H-Ga-silicate to satisfactorily exert the intrinsic activities.
