Background: Cardiac surgery carries a risk of acute kidney injury (AKI), but correlation between perioperative factors in thoracic aortic surgery and AKI still remains unclear. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective study to evaluate the predictors of postoperative AKI in patients undergoing the thoracic aortic surgery. Methods : This is a retrospective study of 53 patients undergoing the thoracic aortic surgery at Tohoku Medical and Pharmaceutical University Hospital from January 2010 to October 2015. Logistic regression analyses were used to determine whether perioperative factors were associated postoperative AKI within thirty days. Results: Postoperatively 29 (55%) of the 53 patients developed AKI There were statistically significant associations between postoperative AKI and perioperative factors including age seventy years or over (multi- variable odds ratio: 19.6; 95%, CI: 2.11-183) and open aortic surgery.
