Recent techniques for residual life assessment of aged fossil power materials

抄録

Some Japanese fossil power plants have been operating for more than 200 thousand hours, and several kinds of damage have been observed. The assessment of residual service life of these aged components has become important. Three types of assessment techniques have been developed at IHI : 1. Creep-fatigue damage assessment based on the behavior of small cracks. 2. Creep damage assessment in the early stage based on changes in the chemical composition of carbides. 3. Non-destructive assessment of creep residual service life for tubes based on creep deformation, called the Omega method.
