The quasi-two-dimensional Fermi surfaces in rare earth and uranium compounds were studied. The quasi-two dimensionality is related to crystal structure elongated along the [0 0 1] direction, which brings flat Brillouin zone and produces highly corrugated Fermi surfaces along [0 0 1]. It was found that without magnetic ordering CeIrIn5 and CeCoIn5 were heavy fermion superconductors at ambient pressure.
