We have developed the method to determine the linear polarization of light emitted from nanostructures by means of polarized cathodoluminescence (CL) spectroscopy using an ellipsoidal mirror fitted in a transmission electron microscope. Collecting polarized CL light by using an ellipsoidal mirror with a proper reflecting surface as well as simulating polarized CL intensities with full consideration of the effect of reflection in the mirror, we determine the polarization of the CL light.
