Proton dynamics of the water lattice in nanochannel

By the microwave and infrared measurements, the water nanotube encapsulated in the nanochannel framework of molecular porous crystal exhibits intrinsic proton conduction with high conductivity and activation behavior. Self-dissociation of water molecules generates protons and protonic holes forming an Eigen-type hydrate with local distortions. One-dimensional water chain is constructed in the similar porous crystal with narrower nanochannel size. The microwave response comes from protons and protonic holes respectively combined with mobile D and L configurational defects traveling on the water chain, which is influenced by the anisotropic Coulomb fields due to Co3+ in the framework.
