This work studied an Fe-54% V alloy. Oxidation behavior was studied using a soda flux (Na//2CO//3, Na//2CO//3-Fe//2O//3) at 1300 degree C. Oxidation of phosphorus and vanadium were initially retarded if a small amount of flux was added by installments, at the end reversion of phosphorus and vanadium occurred. Removal of vanadium was observed in the addition of Fe//2O//3 by installments, while neither dephosphorization nor vanadium reversion took place. The same oxidation behavior found in the Na//2CO//3-Fe//2O//3 flux was obtained in an experiment using CaO-CaF//2-Fe//2O//3.
