The application of the optical frequency comb generation technology prototype to wide-area wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) access networks and millimeter-wave generation was discussed. It was found that the optical frequency comb, that is a flattened sideband generator, is based on a sinusoidal amplitude-phase hybrid modulation technique. One key issue with super dense (SD) WDM networks was to develop a compact and cost effective optical transmitter because a huge number of transmitters will be needed for the system. The results show that the sideband generator had a simple configuration based on a tandem LiNbO3 modulators that allows WDM seed frequency input.
