The structural characteristics of the Al4Cr ε phase have been discussed on the basis of the experimental results by transmission electron microscopy in comparison with the structure of the Al-Cr-Ni κ phase. Electron diffraction experiment shows that the Al4Cr ε phase is structurally related to the Al-Cr-Ni κ phase. It is suggested that the structure of the ε phase may consist of the similar atom cluster as that derived from the structure of the κ phase. High-resolution electron micrograph of the Al4Cr ε phase has been used to reveal the arrangement of the atom clusters.
