The behavior of edge-flames established in counterflow field was numerically investigated. A quasi-three dimensional analysis with full chemistry of CH4/air and C3H8/ air mixtures was used. The flow in the direction of the flame surface (x) was perfectly eliminated and therefore, the flows only to normal direction of the flame surface existed. A flame was established in the high strength side (the left side). The temperature and OH concentration were higher at the flame edge than at other parts of the flame. The temperature and OH concentration at the flame edge were lower than at other parts of the flame. In contrast to the CH4/air edge-lame, flame shapes were different between the simulation and the experiment. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 30th International Symposium on combustion (Chicago, IL 7/25-30/2004).
