The magnetic properties in the slightly hole-doped Mott-insulator La 2-xSrxcuO4 were reported. It was observed that at x=0.018, the antiferromagnetic (AFM) La-nuclear quadrupole resonance (La-NQR) spectrum affected by internal fields comes out as the temperature decreases below TN∼150 K. The nonmagnetic La-NQR spectrum were observed down to a temperature Tf∼20 K ath which the nuclear-relaxation rate had a pronounced peak. It was suggested that the novel phase separation of the nonmagnetic and AFM was due to the partial destruction of the AFM phase caused by mobile holes via the formation of an extended spin-singlet state between Cu-derived spins and hole spins.
