The case of a fifty-eight-year-old man with non Hodgkin's lymphoma of the prostate is presented. A pathological and immunohistochemical diagnosis of the TUR-biopsy specimens of the prostate was B cell origin, diffuse and small cleaved cell type, according to the Working Formulation. Staging work up revealed the tumor to be confined to the prostate, and so the patient underwent retropubic total prostatectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy following 3 courses of combination chemotherapy comprising mitoxantrone, etoposide, vindesine, cyclophosphamide and AraC. The step sections of the total prostatectomy specimen revealed no residual malignant lymphocytes. The patient has received 2 further courses of combination chemotherapy, and remains alive, with no evidence of disease during the last 17 months.
