New technique for truing of superabrasive wheels used in form-grinding

For truing superabrasive wheels with convex profile, a new truing/dressing device, called the Arc Truer, was developed to achieve the desired profile without damage on the abrasive particles. The Arc Truer employs a silicon carbide cup wheel as the truing tool, and has infeed, reciprocation and swing movements assisting the cup wheel to generate an arc profile. The process offers the significant advantage that dressing occurs simultaneously during truing. The process can also be applied to all kinds of abrasive and bond material.
