抄録

A new approach to the design of a multichannel FES (functional electrical stimulation) system for paralyzed upper extremities is proposed. Standard stimulation patterns are determined by multichannel EMG waveforms observed with percutaneous wire electrodes during objective movements of normal subjects (inherent antagonism is involved), and are then modified to compensate for the nonlinear characteristics of the stimulation intensity vs. displacement or force. The system is composed of a 16-bit microcomputer (SBC86/12A, Intel Co. ) and peripheral boards and some electronic circuits, and is based on the RMX-86 operating system.
