Multilayered drug delivery sheet that allows minimally invasive delivery to the eye

Statement of Purpose: Designing drug-delivery systems (DDS) targeting a specific organ in the human body, e.g. bladder and subretinal structure, is one of the most challenging tasks [1]. It is ideal for DDS devices to be minimally-invasive as much as possible. Fixing the conventional DDS devices at a desired location in the body requires surgery, therefore they are invasive. So, we aim to develop a DDS device that can be injected and remained at the desired location for long-term drug release. Here, we report the fabrication of device, drug release characteristics, and self-deployment of the devices. The performance of the devices was evaluated by injected it into the rabbit eyes.
