Micro X-ray CT is described as a three-dimensional observation method. After outlining the X-ray CT principle, the use of X-ray phase information is extensively reviewed. This is because polymers are weak X-ray-absorbing objects, which generate poor absorption contrast. Therefore, the help of X-ray phase contrast is indispensable in micro X-ray CT for polymer samples. X-ray phase imaging is an emerging technology, and some demonstrative results obtained with synchrotron radiation are introduced.
