Mass spectrometry for chemical diagnosis and pharmaceutical care

Recently, mass spectrometry is expected to be big contributors in clinical practice. Especially, proteomics and metabolomics for searching disease biomarkers and new drug target molecules are now attracting attention, and the researches on the subjects including method developments are doing actively. Meanwhile, mass spectrometry coupled with chromatography has been already used for chemical diagnosis and therapeutic drug monitoring in pharmaceutical care, and its coverage is rapidly expanding combined with recent progress of method and biotechnology. In this article, we focused chemical diagnosis and pharmaceutical care mainly, and consider a future direction of clinical application of mass spectrometry with organizing its present problem.
