Low-temperature synthesis of Zn2SiO4:Mn phosphor with high purity and strong emission by a homogeneous precipitation method in combination with novel water-soluble silicon compounds

    This paper reports on the synthesis of Zn2SiO 4:Mn2+, a green phosphor, by a homogeneous precipitation method as a part of our synthetic research on silicate-based phosphors by an aqueous solution process employing the water-soluble silicon compounds (WSS), which we have developed recently. The homogeneous precipitation method involving WSS as a Si source yielded a single-phase Zn2SiO4:Mn 2+ after a heat-treatment at 800 °C.
