Longitudinal wavelength of oscillating liquid sheet with air flow

A liquid fuel sheet injected into the combustor of gas turbine engines is deformed and atomized by the complex interactions between the liquid sheet and air flows. To understand the deformation characteristics, we performed a visualization of an oscillating liquid sheet with parallel air flows for ambient pressures and the widths of liquid sheet and the thicknesses of the atomizer lip using high speed camera. As a result, we proposed a correlation on the longitudinal wavelength λLonbased on the lip momentum ratio MRLip. The dimensionless number was defined in this study to take into account the effects of lip thickness DLipwhich determine its wake flow.
