LCD-CCD synchronization detection for fluorescence polarization immunoassay

A new fluorescence polarization (FP) measurement system applicable to FP immunoassay (FPIA) was developed. The detection principle of the system is unique and is based on the synchronization detection between the orientation of the liquid-crystal (LC) molecules of a LC display (LCD) and the sampling frequency of a CCD camera. In this paper, we demonstrate the viscosity dependence of FP of fluorescein for a proof-of-concept and FPIA of an antibiotic (chloramphenicol). These results showed that our system had a great potential for simultaneous multi-sample detection. Furthermore, our system can perform miniaturization and cost reduction easily.
