Laminar burning velocity of CH4/air premixed flame at high pressure and high temperature for various equivalence ratios

The laminar burning velocities CH4/air premixed flame were measured at high pressure and high temperature using a technique, which measures the instantaneous local burning velocity using a particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) and planar laser induced fluorescence for OH radical (OH-PLIF) simultaneously for burner-stabilized flames. This experimental technique provided the information of local burning velocities in whole area of flame, and laminar burning velocities were determined by the average values of local burning velocities in the region where the Karlovitz number are sufficiently small, i.e., O(10-3). Numerical simulations were also conducted using the one-dimensional premixed flame code (CHEMKIN-II, PREMIX). As detailed chemical reaction mechanisms, GRI-Mech version 2.11 and 3.0 were examined. The four-step reduced mechanism by Peters was also tested. These numerical results were compared with experimental data to investigate the feasibility of the mechanisms for predicting the flame characteristics at high pressure and high temperature.
