Investigation of blood compatibility for cytocompatibility type a-C:H films

In this study, in order to investigate blood compatibility of cytooompatibility type hydrogenated amorphous carbon (a-C:H) film, the a-C:H film coated segmented polyurethane (SPU) scaffold fiber sheet (a-CJf-Scaffold) was implanted at partial aorta desoendens of a goat for 35 days. The scatfold sheet was fabricated by electronspirming method, and the a-C:H film was deposited on the scaffold sheet by nf plasma chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique. In in-iiw test, it was observed that the a-C.H film ooating surface was uniformly covered by neointima Additionally, the surface had no thrombus formation as an inflammatory reaction and it was shown that tlie a-C:H film coating had a good blood compatibility. These results suggest thatcytooompatibility type a-C:H film lias emetgedasa potential technique for blood interfacing applications.
