Inhibition effect of NaCl-bentonite aqueous solution for methane hydrate formation

Natural gas hydrate existing in geological formations constitutes a potentially large natural gas resource for the future. Hydrate formation in a gas line is a critical problem for economical and safe gas production from the natural gas hydrate reservoir. Since hydrate bearing sediment contains considerable amount of mud and salinity, the formation/dissociation behavior of gas hydrate in such condition is required information. In this study, methane hydrate formation/dissociation behavior in NaCl-bentonite suspension was experimentally investigated. The shift of the temperature-pressure condition during dissociation process was discussed.
