A series of Cr-doped cesium tungsten bronzes are synthesized via water controlled-release solvothermal method using WCl6, CsOH•H2O and CrCl3•6H2O as raw materials, ethanol and acetic acid as solvents. The crystal phase, binding energy, morphology and elemental composition of the material are characterized by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy spectrum analyzer (EDS) and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis).The effect of Cr doping on the optical properties of cesium tungsten bronze is also investigated. The results illustrate that the synthesized samples have hexagonal Cs0.32WO3 structure and the transmittance of the film made from the samples increases with the increase of Cr doping amount. When the molar ratio of Cr/W=0.01, the film still exhibits good infrared shielding performance and the average transmittance in the visible light region increases by 10%.Furthermore, the heat insulation efficiency of the sample improves by 73.4%.In addition, through the thermal insulation performance test, the temperature variation of the film is 6.4℃ compared with a blank glass.
