In situ synchrotron-radiation angle-resolved photoemission study on la 0.6Sr0.4MnO3 thin films grown by laser molecular beam epitaxy

We have performed in situ synchrotron-radiation angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) study on well-ordered single-crystal surfaces of La 1-xSrxMnO3 (LSMO) thin films grown by laser molecular beam epitaxy (laser MBE). Obtained band structure of LSMO thin film consists of several highly dispersive O 2p-derived bands at the binding energies of 2.3-7.0 eV and almost dispersionless Mn 3d-derived structures near the Fermi level. The present study has demonstrated that in situ ARPES on transition metal oxide thin films grown by laser MBE is a capable experimental technique to determine the band structure of three dimensional transition metal oxides.
