This paper introduces a pilot program of disaster reconstruction education that was conducted in the tsunami-affected Ishinomaki-City, Miyagi Prefecture. It was designed as a first step in disaster reconstruction education in Kazuma Elementary School. The schoolchildren faced the reality of the disaster through walking in their school district, recorded the status of the reconstruction, created a map based on the records of reconstruction, and presented the completed maps to the whole school and their parents. It should be noted that this case is an example of an implementation of disaster reconstruction education program led through partnerships among the City Board of Education, school teachers and students, universities and a NGO.
