The design and operation of the time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer developed for ionic photofragmentation studies of molecules is described. Characteristics are summarized for three different operation modes of the TOF spectrometer; a pulse mode, a photoelectron-photoion coincidence mode, and a photoion-photoion coincidence mode. Experimental results for SiH4 are demonstrated as an example for the performance of the apparatus.
