High frequency properties in a particle-dispersed amorphous Co70.5Fe4.5Si10 B15 composite with zero magnetostriction

It is shown that a ductile amorphous Co70.5Fe4.5Si10B15 composite is obtainable and its micro-structure consists of uniformly dispersed tungsten carbide (WC) second phase particles and an amorphous matrix. The saturation magnetic induction (Bs) of the composites does not rapidly decrease from the level (Bso) of a non-dispersed Co70.5Fe4.5Si10B15 alloy; i.e., this decrease is given by a simple relation of Bs=Bso (1-Vf/100), and their Curie temperatures are almost independent of volume-fraction (Vf); these indicating that WC particles act as equivalent holes in a magnetic matrix. The permeability of the amorphous Co70.5Fe4.5Si10B15 composites as optimized by annealing above a Curie temperature is definitely improved relative to the non-dispersed alloy at frequencies above 10KHz.
