Hard magnetic properties of melt-spun (Fe0.55Pt0.45)-(Nb, Ti)-B nanocrystalline alloys with L10 structure

The hard magnetic properties and the structure of the melt-spun (Fe0.55Pt0.45)-(Nb, Ti)-B alloys have been investigated. The almost single L10-FePt structure was directly formed in the wide compositional range of 2-10 at% Nb and 15-24 at% B, and 2-6 at% Ti and 3-20 at% B, respectively. The highest Hc values are 588 kA/m for (Fe0.55Pt0.45)72Nb8B20 and 357 kA/m for (Fe0.55Pt0.45)83Ti2B15, respectively. The rapidly quenching the melt is useful to realize the good hard magnetic properties through the grain size refinement of the near equi-atomic FePt alloys.
