N2 - An original method of graphical analysis is used to investigate the power conversion characteristic of an orthogonal-flux type transformer. Parameters in the analysis include the primary and secondary currents, windings, voltages and powers, the phase angle between a sinusoidal supply voltage and a square wave voltage, and time variations of the primary and secondary magnetic fluxes. Except for discrepancies due to magnetic hysteresis, the analysis results agree well with experimental measurements.
