GPR arachaeological survey for preservation of culural heritages

We introduce a case study of GPR archaeological survey carried out in Japan. Most of the archaeological sites in Japan are small, and have uneven ground surface topography. We demonstrate that GPR surveys with advanced systems and software can provide us very clear 3D GPR profiles. We surveyed Inariyama-Kofun tumulus, Japan and found an anomaly at 3m depth. This can be unknown archaeological structure. We think GPR survey can be used not only for detecting something unknown, but also for preserving cultural heritage by technology.
