This paper introduces the concept and contents of an innovative advanced safety vehicle (ASV) service and its prompt reports of field operation tests demonstrated in Hiroshima, Japan as part of the post congress tours for the ITS world congress 2013 Tokyo. The proposed services have been realized by vehicle-to-vehicle communications between private cars and public transport vehicles using dedicated on-board units, just introduced to the market, attached to both vehicles and using an ITS-dedicated radio frequency band. The ASV services developed have been composed of a tramcar for the test run and an experimental private car to provide warning information to both drivers using navigation devices and prompt earlier awareness of approaching dangers.
