Füllstofffreie Polypropylen/Elastomer Blends mit Extrem Niedriger Thermischer Ausdehnung

    We investigated the linear thermal expansion coefficients (CLTEs) for the injection-molded specimens using the rubber-toughened iPP blends consisting of various types of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). It was found that the blends consisting of the TPE types with high melt flow rate (MFR) and high co-unit content showed extremely low CLTEs in flow- (FD) and transverse-to-flow direction (TD), while high CLTE in normal-to-flow direction (ND). TEM observation revealed that the TPE domains were highly elongated along both FD and TD, i.e., lamella-sheets TPE were stacked parallel to ND. It was found from WAXD measurement that the b-axis of PP crystals were exclusively oriented parallel to ND. The high CLTE in ND correlated well with the b-axis orientation in the iPP crystalline phase and the aspect ratio of the TPE sheet.
