Field scale simulation for effect of permeability distribution and anisotropy on dissociation and gas production behavior in marine sediments with gas hydrate

We have developed a field scale simulator to analysis the physical phenomena in methane hydrate reservoir and predict gas production behavior in the process of hydrate dissociation. Absolute permeability and relative permeability with hydrate formation were formulated with measuring data and introduced into the simulator. Based on the experimental results in laboratory for hydrate dissociation by hot water injection, the validity of the simulator was demonstrated. Using this simulator, some field scale simulation run for hot water injection as a thermal stimulation methods was carried out to consider the effect of permeability distribution and anisotropy on dissociation and gas production behavior. From calculation results, it was found that 1) high permeable zone was formed in the reservoir, 2) injected water flew in this zone, so that dissociation was promoted, depending on the these parameters.
