The first femtosecond spectroscopic data on poly(3-methylthiophene) films prepared by electrochemical polymerization are reported. The experiment was performed using the amplified pulses of a colliding-pulse mode-locked ring laser (<100 fs, 2 eV, 100 μ J, 10 Hz) for excitation and probing with a white light continuum in the range between 1.3 and 2.1 eV. Measurements at room temperature and 10 K have been carried out with the polarization directions of pump and probe light both parallel and perpendicular to each other. Transient photoinduced difference absorption spectra at 10 K for various delay times and the transient behavior of the photoinduced absorption at different photon energies are shown and discussed.
