The reprecipitation method has become one of the most useful methods to form organic nanocrystals. In this simple technique, nanocrystals size and morphology can be controlled by changing the experimental conditions. In addition, hybridized nanocrystals can be obtained by using the co-reprecipitation method. In this study, we applied these techniques for C 60. By selecting the proper combination of good and poor solvents and controlling the concentration of C60 solution in the reprecipitation method, C60 nanocrystals with various shapes such as spherical particles, rods, petaled crystals were obtained. Hybridized nanocrystals were prepared as follows: AgNO3 water solution was added into the C 60 nanocrystals dispersion and UV-irradiated to reduce Ag +. Hybridized nanocrystals composed of C60 as a core and Ag nanoparticles as a shell could be formed when pyridine was used as a good solvent and methanol was used as a poor solvent. Coverage by Ag nanoparticles was found to be affected by hydrogen ion concentration of the dispersion. We also succeeded in preparation of C60 nanocrystals coated by Au nanoparticles. Details of the preparation processes and their optical properties will be reported.
