A simple method for fabricating polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) thin films containing barium titanate (BT) nanoparticles on electrodes is proposed. The BT particles that had an average size of ca. 7 nm and a tetragonal crystalline phase were prepared with complex alkoxide methods. PVP/ethanol/water solution suspending the BT particles were spin-coated on ITO glass substrates. The obtained PVP films dispersing the BT particles had thicknesses of 95-755 nm at a BT particle concentration of 50 wt% for the films. Their dielectric constants were in a range of 10.6-16.8 with low dissipation factors of around 0.05, which corresponded to capacitances of 12 to 157 nF/cm2. The present method can be used to prepare high capacitance films at low temperatures, which have favorable electrical properties or characteristics.
