Erbium-doped fiber laser with a frequency-shifted feedback; oscillation characteristics and application to optical reflectometry

抄録

The first observation from an erbium-doped fiber frequency-shifted feedback (FSF) laser and its application to optical reflectometry is presented. This observation indicates that the FSF laser output consists of a chirp frequency comb; its chirp rate is 832.7 THz/s and comb separation is 7.57 MHz. The oscillation characteristics are identical to that of an all solid-state FSF laser. Taking advantages of the characteristics, long distance, high resolution optical frequency domain reflectometry was achieved.
