Effects of nanoparticles on properties of glucose biosensors

Gold and copper nanoparticles were prepared respectively to construct glucose biosensors, and their electrochemical behaviors were studied using screen-printed gold electrodes. The results show that copper nanoparticles can not enhance the current response of the glucose biosensor, while prolonging its response time. Gold nanoparticles enhance the current response of glucose biosensor, shorten its response time, improve its anti-interferential properties, but fail to extend its dynamic range. The large current response shows great dependence on certain scale of the applied potential. The current response drops sharply when the applied potential decreases, in accordance with the behaviors of the unmodified glucose biosensors.
