In this paper an experiment was performed to investigate the dynamic characteristics of a collapsible tube flow. The effect of initial axial strain of the tube on the self-excited oscillation was studied by changing the initial stretch of a silicone rubber tube for various values of the flow rate. The frequency and the amplitude of pressure and flow rate oscillation at the upstream and the downstream ends were measured. The characteristics of the self-excited oscillation were strongly related to the initial strain in a range of lower flow rate and lower initial stretch. Three different types of oscillation were observed in the present condition. The type of the oscillation changes to the other one due to variation of the initial axial strain of the tube or the supply flow rate.
