N2 - Using a photon counting technique, emission cross sections have been measured in the electron energy range 10-200 eV for eight transitions from Zn II low-lying excited states and for about 30 lines from the 3d94s4p inner-shell electron excited states and high-lying 3d10nl excited states formed by single-electron impact. By using these results, direct excitation cross sections for four low-lying states (3d104p 2P12,3/2/, 3d94s2 2D 32,5/2/) have been determined as a function of electron energy. They are found to be the order of 10-17 cm2 at their maxima. Emission cross sections for the Zn II high-lying states are determined to be of the order of 10-19-10-20 cm2 at 50 eV.
