抄録

Chaperonin GroEL, one of the molecular chaperones, is a cylindrical protein consisting of 14 identical subunits. GroEL works as a molecular machine driven by ATP. Photoresponsive units, azobenzene derivatives, which undergo trans to cis isomerization upon exposure to UV and visible light, were attached to GroEL in order to control the protein function by light energy. The refolding rate of guest protein trapped by the modified GroEL could be controlled by photoirradiation.
