Poly(L-lysine) (PLL) can interact with DNA and forms stable polyion complex (PIC). Novel amylose primers those consist of maltopentaose (MP) and PLL or cholesteryl PLL were designed. 30% of MP substituted PLL (MaPLL, CH-MaPLL) were synthesized by reductive animation reaction. The MP-PLL and CH-MaPLL copolymers were enzymatically polymerized and the degree of polymerization (DP) was linearly increased in accordance to the polymerization time. Positive charge of the conjugates was shielded with increasing the degree of polymerization. Interaction of the conjugates with DNA was investigated.
